Napa Valley is known the world over for fine cabernet sauvignon. Vineyards there are blessed with a great diversity of soils and microclimates and express their distinct personalities through remarkable wines. Cakebread blends their Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from special spots throughout the region, including the renowned cab appellations of Rutherford and Oakville, which impart classic Napa Valley bold fruit intensity, as well as the warmer Calistoga area to the north and the cooler southern reaches of the Suscol watershed, which contribute layers of complexity and depth of flavor.
This wine reveals a fragrant, complex bouquet of ripe blackberry and boysenberry complemented by notes of dark chocolate and toasty oak. Rich and smooth on the palate, the sumptuous dark fruit is balanced by fresh acidity and lush tannins with a lingering, elegant finish and a hint of minerality.

Catena Malbec, 750 Millilitre, $28.99
High altitude vines selected by Laura Catena. The Catena family, since 1902: Argentina's Malbec pioneer. For over four generations, the Catena family has grown vines in the foothills of the Andes mountains in Mendoza, Argentina. Laura Catena, great-granddaughter of founder Nicola Catena, has created a Malbec blend with intense black-fruit aromatics and the smooth, lengthy finish that has become the family's trademark characteristic. Catena Malbec is sourced from the family's high-altitude vineyards in Maipu (20%), Lujan de Cuyo (10%), Tupungato (40%) and San Carlos (30%). From the marriage of these historic parcels emerges a wine of unique character that has natural balance, concentration and a distinct varietal identity. Alc. by vol 13.9%. Estate grown and bottled by Bodega Catena Zapata. Product of Argentina.
Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, 750 Millilitre, $83.99
Caymus-Suisun Petite Sirah Grand Durif, 750 Millilitre, $80.99
Separated from Napa by just an invisible county line, Suisun Valley (which became an AVA in 1982) is still largely undiscovered. With its warm days and cool nights, this pastoral region reminds us of Napa Valley in the 1960s. Known for delicious stone fruits and walnuts, it is also gaining recognition for exceptional wine. Durif is synonymous with Petite Sirah, the widely grown grape in the region – we added “Grand” to the name for its grand style. With harmonious tannins, this wine is opulent, luxuriously soft and totally enjoyable.
Caymus-Suisun The Walking Fool Red Blend Wine, 750 Millilitre, $42.99
This new red wine blend is produced from Suisun Valley, a remarkable AVA that has become the Wagner family’s second home. Like its close neighbor Napa Valley, Suisun Valley has ideal soils and climate for a variety of grapes. The Walking Fool is named after a long-ago relative who was often seen traveling by foot – thus earning this affectionate moniker. Featuring Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, this wine is smooth and lively, with juicy raspberry, notes of espresso and softly fine tannins.
